Firefighters 50/50 Winning Ticket Supports CCRDT

Calvert County Rescue Dive Team Celebrates Major Win in Maryland Firefighter 50/50 Program

The Calvert County Rescue Dive Team (CCRDT) is proud to announce its participation in the Maryland Firefighter 50/50, while marking an important milestone as the first department in Southern Maryland to produce a jackpot winner. After receiving official approval to participate on the morning of April 16, CCRDT immediately spread the word on social media. In a remarkable display of community engagement, the team sold the winning ticket for the week 37 jackpot of $38,216. There are over 105 departments across Maryland taking part in this weekly 50/50.

Proceeds from our department's ticket sales will directly support essential capital improvements, including equipping the team’s new rescue boat, expected to arrive in late July, and upgrading our department’s F-350 support vehicle used to transport and deploy dive operations equipment.

These investments are vital for maintaining and expanding CCRDT’s operational capabilities. The new vessel will greatly enhance the team’s ability to perform underwater search, rescue, and recovery missions across the county’s waterways, while the upgraded support truck will improve logistical support and rapid response.

As an all-volunteer, special operations rescue team with limited resources, we depend heavily on community involvement to succeed. Participation in the Maryland Firefighter 50/50 provides a community-supported funding source that enables volunteer emergency services like CCRDT to perform high-risk, high-skilled operations without adding extra tax burdens.
